DYNAMIC WINDSURFING EDUCATION SYSTEM

The Dynamic Windsurfing Education System teaches the most important skill sets in order to sail effectively in any weather conditions. Learn how to take advantage of the correct technique and change sail- and board size to get the most fun and harmony whatever the wind is doing!


The courses are set in 5 stages from the first time you set foot on a board. Come take advantage of our many years of expertise: you will soon head on to the next levels. As you improve, we practice in stronger wind, bigger waves and with a smaller board shape. Before you know it, you take off, graduating black belt in windsurfing!! (See more below)

Beginner level:
Get a taste of windsurfing and manage easy conditions with XL-board shape

    Beginner Level: in easy conditions
    Join one of our many beginner classes and learn the basics of windsurfing. Get feedback on the water and a debrief on land from our instructors graduated in the Dynamic Windsurfing Education System.
    With the correct windsurfing technique from the start, the learning curve will be fast and smooth.
    Safety: Learn how to stay safe on the water and get back ashore no matter what.
    Equipment: Get a basic understanding and knowledge of windsurfing equipment
    Theory: Understand basic sailing theory and windsurfing
    Stance: Learn how to stand and steer on a windsurfing board
    Manoeuvres: Learn how to turn (tack and jibe) a basic way, even when you become better you will get back to this technique in rough survival conditions.
    We are using the XL board size (L-board shape with XL center fin) combined with a smaller Dynamic sail on our beginner classes.
    Estimated time: 5 x 3 hours joining our Beginner Day1 and Day 2+ classes

    XL level: ADVANCED LIGHT WIND - Master fundamental techniques in light wind conditions with the XL- board shape

      XL level: performed in Extra Light winds (~ below 10 knots with XL shape)
      This course is of big importance since it builds the base from which your technique can develop onward. With a solid base, the more advanced sailing Technics will be acquired more efficiently. The XL courses will make you sail properly in all directions (close hauled, close reach, beam reach, broad reach and running) in light wind. Training in light wind improves the focus on technique.
      Safety: Understand how to stay safe when sailing on your own
      Equipment: Learn how to rig and set up your equipment on your own
      Sailing theory: Learn to read the wind on the water. Understanding of wind shifts and how to benefit from. Sail all reaches. Harness lines usage incl. safety and position/adg, learn downwind stance, Sail with a harness to get stronger, sail longer and be abjustments
      Stance: Adjust your position on the board for a more relaxed sailinle to use larger sails.
      Maneuvers: Learn the race tack, light wind jibe, the XL pumping. The pumping technic will make you faster and build your strength. It will also take you back even if the wind drops. Board shape: The XL shape of Optimus, Invictus or Speedus uses a center fin, making the upwind sailing efficient.
      Estimated time: 15-30 sessions combining XL classes with training on your own.

      L level: Get a taste of planing with L-boardshape. Get high on speed and get hooked for life

      Desirable Conditions:

      A moderate breeze and fairly flat water:

      Equipment:

      L board size (L-board shape with only the back fin) combined with a Dynamic sail giving the power to lean towards the water

      What you learn:

      Details
        L level: performed in Light wind (~10-15 knots with an L board shape)
        Just a small gust of wind will accelerate the L board onto the surface of the water (plane) and enable speeds exceeding 15 knots. This is when you get really hooked on windsurfing.
        The L level is focuses on the following topics:
        Safety: More about safety and how to stay away from trouble when going faster and longer distances Equipment: Trim your gear for planing and get some knowledge on how the board shapes affect the sailing.
        Theory: Feel and use wind shifts. catch the dust. Understand how the land formation affects the wind. Get back ashore upwind with only a back fin. Trimming and adjusting to the expected weather conditions Stance: Stance for more power in the sail to plane. Use the passive but effective technique to get into planing already in lighter winds. Introduction to foot straps usage -take advantage of the easy access to foot straps built-in on the DW board when using the L shape.
        Maneuvers: Easy bear off from the beach by beach starting technique. Carve the board into a jibe.
        Board shape: L-shape with the only back fin of Optimus, Invictus or Speedus

        M-level: Sailing in control of full speed

        At a Glance M- level

        Desirable Conditions:

        A fresh breeze:

        Equipment:

        M board shape combined with a Dynamic sail giving enough power to get the board planing.

        What you learn:

        Details
          M level: performed in Medium winds (~15-25 knots with M board shape)
          At this level we focus on full planing conditions
          Equipment: Set up your gear for high speed sailing, fine tune between power and control
          Theory: Theory regarding how to use the power from the sail the right way through the body and deliver this power to the board. How to pump effectively. Deeper understanding of how to predict and take advantage of wind shifts.
          Stance: Practice to control your body position for best upwind performance with control of the fin pressure . Sail in high speed with a total control, handle tail ride, full blast downwind with control, avoid catapults.
          Maneuvers: Pop up from the water with smooth water starts. Actively pump the board into planing. Carve the board with full speed into a planing jibe or duck jibe. Control power with your body (show off with a body drag or head dip)
          Board shape: M shape of Optimus, Invictus, Speedus or Wavus
          Estimated time: 30-100 hours combining M-classes with training on your own.

          At a Glance S- level

          Desirable Conditions: Strong to gale with waves
          Equipment: S board shape combined with a smaller Dynamic sail size.
          What you learn:

          Details
            S level: performed in Strong wind (~ above 20 knots with an S board shape)
            As the wind increases, the waves are rising too. At this level, we focus more on how to deal with the waves and how to handle a small board. A bigger board such as M shape is too bumpy to use in a formed sea. S is designed like a classic sinker and requires precision in both: foot placement and the overall sailing technique.
            Safety: Understand how the waves and current works. Learn how to protect yourself and your gear from the power of big waves.
            Equipment: Get to know the s-shape board for wave sailing
            Sailing Theory: Understand how to stay safe and get offshore and onshore from a beach hammered with breaking waves.
            Stance: Learn how to sail at ease in wavy conditions, pass big shore breaks on your way out, ride them on your way back
            Maneuvers: Jump the s-shape spectacular, ride the waves and carve the board with full speed, manage techniques you learned on lower levels now with a small board shape and shore breaks.
            Estimate time: 30-100 hours combining classes with training on your own Board shape: S of Invictus or Wavus

            Passing all levels in the Dynamic Windsurfing Education System makes you a black belt windsurfer. You can sail efficiently and relaxed in the full diversity of windsurfing conditions. You have a solid education to move on and improve quickly in a more niched windsurfing, such as racing (foil), freestyle or wave sailing or you simply love and master the diversity of windsurfing with one set of gear – a Dynamic Windsurfing board.
